I’m Tom, a Head of English and experienced exam marker who has taught and tutored students for over 15 years. I have taught students across the full range of abilities, from those who lack confidence and need additional support to high-achieving pupils aiming for the very highest grades.

What sets my tutoring apart is the combination of extensive classroom experience and first-hand knowledge of how GCSE examinations are marked. As an exam marker, I understand exactly what examiners are looking for, where students commonly lose marks and what is needed to turn a good answer into an excellent one.

I believe effective tutoring should do more than simply improve a student’s grades. It should build the knowledge, skills and confidence that allow students to become successful, independent learners. Every student I work with receives carefully tailored lessons designed around their individual strengths, weaknesses and target grade.
